ShARM was born following the recognition that opportunities to share invaluable resources were being wasted, which was ethically and economically inefficient. By providing a mechanism for exchanging resources, the amount of research undertaken using the same number of animals can be dramatically increased with minimal additional cost.
Our main goals are to:
- Facilitate the sharing of surplus mouse tissue for research into ageing and diseases of ageing
- Provide a members-only and online environment (our ShARM community) for the ageing research community to network, collaborate and discuss key topics
- Reduce the numbers of animals used for research into ageing, by reducing wastage
